Sonar beacon / distress pinger for submarines
The SBE 1 Sonar Beacon is a sonar emergency pinger for submarines in distress. It is able to operate independently from ships power supply through to its internal lithium battery.
It can be activated manually, or automated by water contact and emits acoustic signals. These signals can then be detected by passive sonar systems on board ships, or through handheld diver units allowing the detection and location of the damaged submarine.
The system is available with either one or two frequencies. The low-frequency transducers provide very long detection ranges, while a high-frequency transducer enables precise guidance of rescue equipment at closer range.
As a life-saving alarm system, the SBE 1 Sonar Beacon guarantees a proven concept with extreme reliability. It is pressure-proof, shock-resistant and non-magnetic, as well as being protected against climate changes.
